Recycle bin
Every work item deleted from a protected project goes to the recycle bin, with sub-tasks that were deleted along with it.
Restore
- Open Recycle bin. Select a work item’s key to see what Safety Net kept.
- Tick the work items to bring back (up to 200 at a time) and choose Restore.
- Follow progress on the page or under Activity.
What comes back
- All fields that can be set in your project: summary, description, assignee, reporter, priority, labels, components, versions, due date, estimates, custom fields.
- Status (through your workflow) and sprint, if the sprint is still open.
- Comments and work logs, each starting with “Originally written by @person on date”, because Jira records the app as their author.
- Links to work items that still exist, watchers, and sub-tasks under the restored parent.
- A note on the work item with its old key, and an issue property
safetynet.restoredFrom.
Comments come back as internal notes in Jira Service Management projects unless they were public replies. A work item that had a security level is restored with the same level — if Jira won’t set it, nothing is created — and only Jira administrators can see or restore it in the recycle bin.
Jira gives the restored work item a new key. Deleted files (attachments) can’t be recovered; their names are listed on the restored work item.
