Safety Net for Jira Coming soon — get notified

The undo button Jira doesn’t have.

Roll back a bad bulk edit, an automation rule gone wrong or an AI agent run in one click — and bring deleted work items back with their comments, work logs, links and sub-tasks.

One mistake can change hundreds of work items

Bulk edits

Someone picks the wrong filter and sets 400 work items to Done. Jira has no undo.

Automation rules

A rule with a too-broad JQL rewrites assignees, labels and sprints across projects in seconds.

AI agents

Agents now edit Jira at scale. When one gets it wrong, you need a way back that isn’t a full-site restore.

Deletions

Deleted work items are gone for good in Jira Cloud — with every comment and logged hour.

What Safety Net does

Undo mass changes

Changes are grouped into sets — everything one person, rule or app changed in one burst. Preview exactly what will be restored, then undo the whole set.

Keeps later fixes

If someone already corrected a work item after the mistake, Safety Net leaves their edit alone (or overwrites it, if you choose).

Recycle bin

Deleted work items come back with fields, comments, work logs, links, watchers and sub-tasks — attributed to their original authors.

Mass-change alerts

Get an email when anyone changes or deletes more work items than you expect, with a link straight to the undo.

History on every work item

A panel on each work item shows what changed and lets people with edit rights restore a single value or a deleted comment.

Undo the undo

Every change Safety Net makes is recorded too, so even an undo can be reversed.

How it works

  1. Install from the Marketplace. Safety Net starts recording changes and deletions straight away. Optionally copy existing work items so they’re protected before they change.
  2. Something goes wrong. A bulk edit, rule or agent changes the wrong work items — or someone deletes them.
  3. Open Safety Net. Find the change set or the deleted work items, check the preview, and restore. It runs in the background and reports exactly what came back.

Built to be trusted with your Jira

Runs on Atlassian

Safety Net runs entirely on Atlassian’s Forge platform. Your data stays in your site’s Atlassian storage, in your data residency region. We run no servers.

Least privilege

Only the permissions it needs to read and write work items. Every action checks the person’s own Jira permissions first.

You decide how long

History is kept for 7 days to a year — your choice — then erased automatically.

Questions

Can Safety Net restore work items deleted before I installed it?

No. Safety Net can only bring back what it recorded. Install it before you need it — that’s the point of a safety net.

Does it work with automation rules and AI agents?

Yes. Anything that changes work items through Jira — people, bulk edits, automation, apps and AI agents — is recorded and grouped into change sets you can undo.

What can’t be restored?

Deleted attachments (files), rank order, and work type or project moves. Restored work items get a new key; the old key is noted on the work item. Full list.

Who can undo and restore?

Jira administrators always; project administrators for their own projects if you allow it. Anyone who can edit a work item can restore a single value from its history panel.
