Getting started

Safety Net records every change and deletion in your Jira Cloud site so you can undo mistakes and restore deleted work items.

1. Install

A Jira administrator installs Safety Net from the Atlassian Marketplace. It’s free for sites with up to 10 users and has a 30-day trial for larger sites.

2. Open Safety Net

Go to Jira settings → Apps → Safety Net. You’ll see four tabs: Undo changes, Recycle bin, Activity and Settings.

3. Protect existing work items

From the moment it’s installed, Safety Net records every change and keeps a copy of every work item that changes. Work items that haven’t changed since you installed it are protected once you copy them: open Settings → Protect existing work items now. This runs in the background.

4. Add alert recipients

In Settings → Mass-change alerts, add the people or groups who should get an email when someone changes or deletes many work items at once.
